Former Chaco Governor Comments on Verdict in Cecilia Strzyzowski Murder Case

Buenos Aires, November 16 (NA) - The former governor of Chaco, Jorge Capitanich, spoke out publicly after learning on Saturday of the verdict in the Cecilia Strzyzowski case, which convicted those responsible through a popular jury. His statements came in a context marked by strong criticism from the current provincial administration towards his government, accusing it of having provided "shelter and protection" to the so-called Sena clan.

Through his social media, Capitanich stated: "Today, the verdict in the Cecilia case was made known through the popular jury." Capitanich insisted that it was "a femicide case" but tried to distance the provincial government from the investigation.

Following the verdict, the Government of Chaco celebrated the conviction of the authors of the murder and pointed directly to the management of Jorge Capitanich. This verdict represents an act of justice for her family and for the people of Chaco. For Cecilia and for all women victims of femicide.

According to what Noticias Argentinas was able to verify, this message contrasts with a controversial statement that the former head of state had made a month before the start of the jury trial against the Sena clan. On that occasion, Capitanich, who was seeking the presidential candidacy, sparked a debate by pronouncing a theory about the femicide of Cecilia Strzyzowski, which occurred in June 2023. In an interview, the former governor affirmed that the case had "connotations of intelligence service with an enemy force scheme" and assured that the case caused him "a terrible political wear and tear" against him.

The Minister of Government and Justice, Jorge Gómez, who was also part of the fiscal team that investigated the case, stated that "The Sena clan, if we can associate it with a synonym, would be impunity," referring to the alleged protection provided to the group for years.

Cecilia Strzyzowski, 28, was last seen on June 2, 2023, in Resistencia, Chaco, when she entered her in-laws' house with her partner, César Sena, with whom she planned to move to Ushuaia. The prosecutor's hypothesis indicated that the young woman trusted the promise of a trip that never materialized.

The former governor's post drew a harsh response from the opposition, one of the most forceful being that of businessman and political leader of the City of Buenos Aires, Roberto García Moritán. After Capitanich's message on X, García Moritán directly confronted him with an insult.
